# How to make it:
- Whisk together flour, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In a large bowl, beat unsalted butter and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy. Incorporate egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, mixing until uniform.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough is formed. Divide dough into two disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll chilled dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Use gingerbread people cookie cutters to cut shapes and place on prepared sheets.
- Bake cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are set. Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whisk powdered sugar and meringue powder together. Gradually add water until piping consistency is achieved. Divide and tint with desired food coloring gels.
- Arrange cooled cookies, bowls of tinted royal icing, and assorted candies on a large platter or board.
- Invite participants to decorate gingerbread people using icing and candies creatively.
