01 - 4 slices Italian bread or sourdough

02 - 4 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
03 - 12–16 slices pepperoni
→ Sauce
04 - 1/4 cup marinara sauce, plus extra for dipping

05 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
# How to make it:
01 - Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
02 - Place two bread slices butter side down. Spread 1 to 2 tablespoons marinara sauce on the unbuttered side of each. Layer mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, then add pepperoni slices. Top with remaining bread slices, butter side up.
03 - Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
04 - Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
05 - Remove sandwiches from the pan, let rest for 1 minute, then slice diagonally and serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
